thats odd, no thrusting? lawl.
i use wooden weapons and we thrust.
also, when we use padded, its only about an inch of padding, and thrusting doesnt really hurt.

Rey, they are made almost identically .
The core stops about 6″ below the tip of the weapon, more or less flush with the closed-cell (dense) foam. This flat edge is then covered with several layers of glued calico or leather. The remaining inches of the spearhead is then painstakingly constructed from soft ‘open-cell’ foam and coated to seal it. The weapon is then latexed , at the end of the process you puncture holes in the soft-foam tip so air can escape when it is used to stab.

Yeah we club each other up pretty good
The fighting at the gate was kinda brutal… No monster crew were harmed during the production of this video, remember that!:P

HOLY CRUD these people are actually hitting each other FOR REAL.

In Estonia most games allow stabbing (haven’t heard a game that would not allow stabbing), i have also heard same in Finland. Just if you practice barring those stabs, then they aren’t so dangerous.
+ there are rules that state that hitting in the face and groin are not allowed.

Many UK games do not allow it. Some smaller events are confident that they are able to stop any excessive/dangerous use of the technique and you learn to guard against it quite rapidly.

yea thats it, seems as it is different in GB

I know, I make LARP weapons myself. But I can assure you, theres not a single LARP event in The Netherlands, Belgium or Germany that will approve of stabbing…

Carbon fibre, lots of padding, correct choice of foams and method of construction. The speartips are larger than arrowheads so you apply similar solutions. We get very few injuries considering its often a contact sport/activity; mainly twisted ankles.

Not unless thats the name of a druid.

Another questions:
Does anybody know, how exactly these spears are build? Mainly the spearhead ? In Germany , all weapons have a Glasfibber core, and so you are not allowed to pierce with them. The danger of hurting s.o. with it is simply too big.
But these weapons seem to be very robust too, this confuses me…

Quite a few of the players and crew at Dumnonni Chronicles are also part of the re-enactment community. At Outlore emphasis is on experiencing what you imagine from folklore tales of mighty warriors and living it. The re-enactors at Outlore bring their experience and help ad a realism that makes the event all the more believable and memorable. Where i do respect your own opinion, i do believe your a bit of a cock, and know you dont represent the vast majority of re-enactors.

comparing this to footbal is pathetic, can’t you find better comparison? fight is my life but i can do this without acting like child
February 5th, 2010 at 2:33 am
What, because you don’t enjoy it? I don’t enjoy kicking a leather ball between to metal rods but I wouldn’t deplore it by calling it childish. So explain how it is childish, hmm?

but wearing strange outfits, elven ears and orc masks is so childlish and make me laugh
February 5th, 2010 at 3:47 am
