Yes, pool noodle has the hole in it, but the hole is 1/2″, meaning that you can get 3/4″ pipe onto it, but not only will you have less padding than if you shoved 1/2″ pipe in it, but it is an immense pain in the ass to get on, and to take off if you have to for whatever reason. I am pretty strong, and my arms ached like a bitch when I finished a quarterstaff boffer using 3/4″ pipe and pool noodle.

For stabbing tip foam, I do recommend the grouting/cleanup sponges from Home Depot – right thickness, easy to cut – 6 tips per sponge – $2 per sponge, and no pain from cutting large chunks of foam down to size.

Try using a cloth sock instead of duck tape

The way I made mine was get the blue camping foam from walmart which is like 6 bucks for a whole sheet and than get 2 fiberglass rods from home depot, 3 bucks each and dap. and u cut 3 foam strips and put them around the fiberglass for the blade part of the sword and than cut 2 pieces of which will be the part of the sword that isnt the “cutting” part. anyone else make theres like this to?

Well whne I lived in california I used to get my pipe sticks at another place. And they handled real well. I guess it depends on where you live.

Problem is, almost all of the insulation you can find at Home Depots and places are 3/8ths, too thin to use without layering up, and even then taping it down might result in compression/increased hardness.

I wouldn’t say impossible – so long as you didn’t use rubber insulation (which WILL hurt like a monkeybitch when hit) but foam instead, but it certainly isn’t easy since the most commonly available wall thickness is 3/8ths wall thickness. 5/8ths is less common, but very good for ultralite – and standard for NERO if I remember correctly. Getting foam insulation thicker than that, you’d have to look at places with considerably colder climates.

It really depends on where you get it at. Whne I made my boffers it was $2 something per.

“I did not use the water noodle. I used actual pipe insulation foam tubes”
Problem is, finding them in the right wall thickness is damn near impossible, plus noodle is cheaper usually.

Honestly when I created boffers. I did not use the water noodle. I used actual pipe insulation foam tubes. Now I woudl prefer a sword that was more realistic. Not the silly round look. But in a pinch the round silly ones will do.

Latex weapons are pretty fucking cool…
Except not everybody can afford them / wants to go to the trouble of getting once, hence the popular alternative in the ’states.

He sure does like saying “um” a lot, doesn’t he?

First of all, PVC instulation is impossible to use safely, you would have to triple layer the blades, which would be the same thickness for a pool noodl;e.
