If someone gets hurt from a weapon at a LARP, it means the staff didn’t do a good enough job…

To say that larping is a waste of time, effort and money is just ignorant. Sure its different, and yes its nerdy, but its no different to “wasting” time and money on a sport like basketball or football. Since I play soccer, basketball, football (aussie rules) and do larping and SCA (medieval fighting) I have to say don’t listen to your mother on this one.

I started just rolling the dice a few times at home whilst on my own, then i got a board. Now im only 16 larps a day and cant quit.

Hi, I’m Allen Stroud I made this film for my Undergrad university final back in 1999. I’ve only just found that its been put on Youtube. I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons for over a year now. I find such games very fun and entertaining. I have just started to get into LARP, though I want to build my fighting skills and character more before I “go into battle.” My parents, (mostly my mom) believe I’m wasting time, effort, and money. I want to prove them, as well as other people, that while I may act a little weird running around the park with a giant foam sword, I’m still keeping a bit of my sanity.

I think that they are talkin abour roleplaying here, instead of live action, as the topic suggests. People do mix up LARP, RP and plain combat play

Live Role play is good fun… some of this puts a bad name on roleplayers. Role play isnt dangerous so long as you are friend with the people out of character and don’t think it is real.
