They were true eccentrics, true originals. And they chose to – literaly- dance to their own drum while coming from an era and social cast that didn’t tolerate ‘- let alone encourage-difference’- God bless them.
i’m in love with this woman….saw the 2nd doco made up of bits that they didnt put into the first one…priceless!
especially the house fire scene where mother gets miffed cos edie put out the fire with jackies $300 blanket
And who treats people who live on the street like garbage?? you? because I dont. stop giving out negativity, if you think so low of them why are you even watching them ?
pathetic and mentally ill, just ill, which made them unable to move and change, they trapped themselves, LE was trapped by her mother, who was trapped by not being able to change and move away
they are pathetic women, mentally ill women
why do they get a pass with all the opportunities offered them while those on the street are treated like garbage
Love this documentary and loved Edie. I think I understood her somehow. I would have liked knowing her I think. She was a real beauty and maintained quite a body for a 56 year old woman who hardly ever left the house.
What a likeable person. She would have been fun to have as a friend. “Mother wanted me to come out in a kimono, so we had quite a fight” – I love when she says that.
poor edie. grey gardens was an amazing movie. so was the documentary!! Drew Berrymore did an amazing job with the role of edie. both of the edies were amazing! an amazing story, definitely.
There is just something special about them. I think little Edie was extremely brilliant when it came to her clothes. Obviously she had to be creative as I presume that they weren’t out shopping at all for several years. I just fell in love with them when I saw the documentary.
She wasn’t ill, just a beautiful, insightful human and if you’ve seen the documentary this shines through. I wish more people were like here in this conformist make everyone the same world we’re in.

i actually saw one life to live and they did a throwback to this in today’s episode. Kassie Depaiva did an amazing job replicating this part!

Don’t forget that she and her mother practically lived on ice cream, so that may have been a cause to the weight gain.
